Meet Mariana Magaña, a Bachelor of Commerce student graduating in Spring 2025 from University Canada West. From aspiring surgeon to rising hospitality leader, Mariana’s journey is a powerful story of courage, self-discovery, and transformation.

After realizing medical school wasn’t the right fit, Mariana pivoted toward business—driven by a newfound passion for hospitality and a dream of opening her own restaurant. At UCW, she found more than just a classroom. Through inspiring professors, international peers, and experiences like representing UCW at the Model United Nations in Portland (where she won “Best Position Paper”), Mariana gained the tools, confidence, and vision to lead.
